The brands in WoW can now also be used for other Blizzard games like Overwatch . But the WoW brand has a catch.
That’s somewhat of a surprise. It was suspected already. Dataminers found hints in November. But since last night, it has surprisingly become a reality in the USA. Without prior announcement – as such an announcement would likely have turned the gold market upside down. And that’s exactly what’s happening now.
Players can now convert WoW Gold into Battle.net currency (the Battle.net balance). And with this Battle.net currency, players can also shop in the stores of Hearthstone, Overwatch, and Heroes of the Storm.
This means: With WoW Gold, players can now purchase skins in Overwatch or card packs in Hearthstone.
What is the WoW brand and how do I get it?
The WoW brand can be obtained in two ways:
- either you buy it directly from Blizzard for cash
- or you buy it in WoW from another player through the auction house for the in-game currency Gold.
So far, the brand could only be exchanged for WoW game time. One brand gave 30 days of game time. This allowed WoW players with a lot of gold to save “cash” for WoW game time. Players with a lot of “cash” in real life could legally obtain gold in-game.
With the switch now, players who have a lot of gold in WoW can also buy loot boxes and skins (Overwatch), card packs (Hearthstone), or new heroes (HotS).
There are also changes in WoW: Players can now indirectly secure existing shop items like mounts or pets for “gold”.
However, there is a catch
Before you jump up now, this isn’t live in Europe yet. Only in the USA. Initial reports indicate that the offered brands on the US servers are already sold out. They cost around 63000 gold there. All available ones were just bought up.
Also in Europe, the supply of brands offered by players in WoW is reportedly exhausted. Some money sharks have already seized this news in advance. The price for WoW brands could therefore be astronomically high when it goes live here. Because it is determined by an algorithm based on supply and demand. And due to this news, the demand for WoW brands is likely to be huge.
As a result, a lot of WoW gold can naturally be earned for speculators if they exchange euros.
