Nostalrius goes offensive: Blizzard should create WoW legacy servers, or Nostalrius will take matters into their own hands.
The whole uproar surrounding the dispute between Blizzard and the Nostalrius team, a former unofficial Classic server of World of Warcraft, has been going on for a while now. However, the Nostalrius team is back and sounds like they are issuing a threat to Blizzard. It says in the Nostalrius forum (translated from English):
“Blizzard’s BlizzCon is on November 4th and 5th, so in a month. This is the perfect opportunity to announce plans for legacy servers and possibly fulfill the dreams of millions of fans around the world.
Yes, Blizzard is aware of the legacy issue, thanks to you.
(…)
As a consequence, if Blizzard does not make an announcement to honor their own values, rest assured that we will.
In the end, satisfying the community is the only thing that really should count.”
This can easily be seen as a threat to Blizzard and sounds like Nostalrius simply wants to set up a server themselves if Blizzard does not take action.
This year’s BlizzCon will likely be exciting – perhaps not because of what will be announced, but because of what may not be announced.
Cortyn says: I can’t imagine that Nostalrius would really go on a confrontation course with Blizzard, as it seems like a very unequal fight. It is possible that the guys and gals from Nostalrius already know a bit more than the rest of us. If that is not the case, then one can expect an exciting conflict that should at least make some headlines. But hey, that also secures my job somehow.
