Which species in World of Warcraft can become an allied race follows clear criteria. Blizzard already has concrete plans for the future.
Allied Races are one of the core features of Battle for Azeroth, the next expansion of World of Warcraft. Numerous ideas and hopes from players continuously surface, wishing for a specific race for the Horde or Alliance.
In an interview with PCGamesN, Blizzard spoke about the plans for allied races and explained how the “roadmap” for Battle for Azeroth would generally look. There was some new information about the allied races that will be coming in the future.
How is it decided which race goes to the Horde or Alliance? Blizzard tries to weigh several factors. First, it looks at whether a race would have a natural inclination toward one of the factions. After that, it is ensured that there is a good “mix” in terms of appearance for both factions. They do not want the Horde to have only “ugly” races and the Alliance only “cute” ones.
What does the future hold for allied races? For Battle for Azeroth, Blizzard already has a plan for which allied races will join the Horde and Alliance. However, they are also open to developments during the expansion and player feedback. So it is possible that allied races will come that Blizzard has not yet planned.
Which allied races emerged from player feedback? Dark Iron Dwarves and Mag’har Orcs. There has long been a desire in the community to be able to play these two races.
Which allied races are confirmed? For the Horde, there are Highmountain Tauren, Nightborne, Zandalari Trolls, and Mag’har Orcs. On the Alliance side, there are Lightforged Draenei, Void Elves, Dark Iron Dwarves, and Humans of Kul Tiras.
Another potential race is the Vulpera – but this has not yet been confirmed.
