Blizzard has agreed to meet with the team behind the World of Warcraft Classic server Nostalrius.
The Will of the Fans Meets Blizzard
The story surrounding the private Classic server Nostalrius of World of Warcraft is taking more and more exciting turns. After Mark Kern addressed Blizzard in a video to present the petition for the creation of “legacy servers”, Blizzard has now responded.
On Nostalrius’ Facebook page, the team of the former server announced that “Blizzard is ready to host the Nostalrius team.” The Nostalrius team is quite excited and is looking forward to bringing the fans’ wishes to Blizzard.
Mark Kern has also spoken out on Twitter again, announcing that Blizzard has invited him to discussions. There are supposed to be “multiple meetings” where the former colleagues will discuss the whole topic.
Moreover, there is talk of an “announcement” that they want to make later this week – whether this already concerns concrete plans for legacy servers is still questionable at this time.
Mein-MMO says: It is remarkable how quickly this whole thing around Nostalrius has developed into such a big topic that Blizzard is willing to have discussions. Reactions on social media are significant, and the expectations of nostalgia fans are slowly reaching a boiling point. Meanwhile, the petition seems to have fully served its purpose. Blizzard has taken notice, and that alone is more than many other petitions have ever achieved. Whether any real actions will follow from the “discussions” – and whether they will meet the expectations of the fans – remains to be seen. It would be desirable.
