Goodbye, Achievement! For a few days, a success in WoW was accessible, which is now being removed from the game.
Anyone who has played a Death Knight in World of Warcraft and is currently battling through the quest for the class-specific mount might have enjoyed a special achievement.
The achievement “Unholy Resolve” was awarded as a reward for being a particularly loyal servant of the Lich King and exterminating all dragons during the stay in the Ruby Sanctum, the sanctuary of the red dragonflight.
Some players complained in the official forum that they had missed out on obtaining this achievement – after all, you can only visit the location once during the quest line.
Death Knight achievement should never go live
However, Blizzard will not grant this achievement retroactively but will completely remove it from the game with Patch 7.2.5. Players who have already obtained it will also have it removed from their achievements. The reason is that the achievement was never meant to go into the live version of the game! In the forum, Blizzard explained:
“This achievement should never go live. We decided a while ago that it does not fit our philosophy for achievements since you cannot repeat the mount quest line. Once Patch 7.2.5 is released, the achievement will no longer be awarded and will be removed from players who have already received it. I can understand that nobody likes having something taken away from them.”
However, the achievement was neither fun nor particularly popular, as a moment of negligence could result in never being able to obtain it again.
One thing will not change: When players slay all the dragons in the shrine, they will be rewarded with a special voice line from Bolvar (the Lich King). Particularly cruel deeds seem to please the new Lich King.
