The toughest dungeons from WoW: Shadowlands have been nerfed. What was incredibly hard yesterday is much easier to handle today.
In the meantime, the second actual endgame week in WoW: Shadowlands is coming to an end. More and more players have dared into the “Mythic+” dungeons, and some have had a terrible awakening. The difficulty of the dungeons is not constant. Some dungeons are harder than others, and Blizzard has now announced nerfs.
What has changed? The changes mainly affect Plaguefall, Theater of Pain, Necrotic Wake, and Spires of Ascension. HP has been reduced, damage has been decreased, or effects have generally been weakened. Here are the changes in detail:
- Plaguefall
- Binding Shroom from Fungalmancer can now be interrupted and has a cast time of 3 seconds (previously 6 seconds).
- Infesting Spores from Swamplord now deals 50% less damage per stack.
- Fungal Storm from Fungasteward now deals 20% less damage.
- Enveloping Webs from Broodkeeper can now be interrupted.
- Globgrog now has 10% less health on all difficulties and the Slimy Buffet has 15% less HP on mythic difficulty.
- Spires of Ascension
- Goliath of the Forsaken now has 25% less health.
- Paragon of the Dark Kyrian now has 30% less health.
- Ether Diver no longer uses the ability “Maw-Touched Saliva”.
- Reborn of the Forsaken no longer uses the ability “Crescendo”.
- The negative effects of the three lieutenants Klotos, Lakesis, and Astronos are removed faster after the fight.
- The Necrotic Wake
- The buff Tormented Echoes from Amarth now ends after 30 seconds (previously permanent), but its damage has increased by 100% on mythic difficulty.
- Theater of Pain
- The Grasping Hands of Kul’tharok now correctly appear at two positions.
- A bug has been fixed where only one of two player souls was held by the Grasping Hands.
- Echoes of Carnage from Mordretha now deal 50% less periodic damage on mythic difficulty.
- Dark Ruin now has a cast time of 2.5 seconds (previously 1.5 seconds) and the visual effect has been altered to be more recognizable.
- Ghostly Charge now has a cast time of 3.5 seconds (previously 2 seconds).
What do the changes bring? Most changes primarily relieve some pressure from the toughest fights. Notably, the change to Amarth and the Tormented Echoes stands out. This buff previously gave the fight a sort of “soft enrage” where damage eventually became unhealable. Now the fight is a steady “up and down” with spikes of damage and calmer phases, making it significantly easier for all healers to manage.
When do the changes go live? Some of the changes have already gone live with the announcement. Others will go live at the next server restart – so tomorrow morning with the weekly reset. The dungeons should be significantly easier to conquer in the coming week, so most healers won’t have to start crying just because their keystone leads them into the Necrotic Wake.
Do you like the adjustments? Or has Blizzard gone too far and nerfed too much?
