Activision Blizzard is approaching BlizzCon 2021, but due to a technical error, two highlights about World of Warcraft have already been made known. Blizzard itself has accidentally released two “Blue Posts” and screenshots. They already reveal the most important new features in WoW and WoW Classic.
This error from Blizzard is currently making headlines: More than 30 hours before the start of BlizzCon 2021 on Friday, February 19th, information has come to light that was apparently planned as major revelations for World of Warcraft:
- The 1st major content patch for “WoW: Shadowlands” is known – the story development around Anduin Wrynn in 9.1 is already known
- WoW Classic will get “Burning Crusade Classic” – this is the 1st expansion for WoW Classic, the game was a surprise hit in August 2019
Blizzard dates its own press kit 9 years too early
How do these leaks occur? Blizzard leaked its own press kits for WoW and WoW Classic. On the official, publicly accessible page, where journalists usually download images for WoW, the new images for World of Warcraft that Blizzard apparently prepared for BlizzCon 2021 were suddenly visible.
However, the images were dated 6/7/2012 – so 9 years too early. Because this date has already passed, the images were able to be seen publicly.
