Endless grind of the same factions – this has come to an end in WoW Dragonflight. Transmog fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as unlocking will be easier.
For some, it is just unnecessary decoration, for others, perhaps the best and most important feature of World of Warcraft: Transmogrification. The ability to visually customize your equipment the way you want and create unique sets is quite popular. Some even try to obtain all templates in the game.
What is the problem? Those who really want to collect all transmog sets must invest an incredible amount of time in World of Warcraft. This is not only because many sets and items depend mainly on luck from drops in raids, but also because a lot of content needs to be played multiple times. Particularly the reputation factions are a major nuisance. For example, someone who painstakingly grinds reputation with a mage can only buy the cloth set from the armor vendor and unlock it as transmog afterwards. At least until now.
What changes in Dragonflight? Reputation vendors in Dragonflight again offer stylish transmog, including some so-called “ensembles”. These are essentially entire armor sets that you unlock via a single item, just like the old PvP sets.
The twist is: In Dragonflight, even as a mage, you can unlock the ensembles for other armor types like leather, chain, or plate at reputation vendors and add them to your collection! This was discovered by MrGM in the beta and shared on Twitter:
Can you transmog them? No. Although you can unlock sets for other armor classes at the reputation vendor of the new factions as a cloth wearer, you can only use these as templates with classes that can wear that armor type. The fundamental restriction that cloth classes can only choose cloth for transmog remains unchanged.
However, this should significantly reduce the grind. Because now at reputation factions, you only need to grind reputation with one character to unlock most templates. Gone are the days when you had to complete the same dailies with four characters just to complete your transmog collection.
Whether Blizzard will also retroactively unlock this feature for old factions and ensembles is still unclear – at least this is not the case in the beta.
Blizzard seems to want to stick to its promise that less grind and fewer repetitive tasks across multiple characters are necessary.
