Begging and pleading has helped. The tower Torghast in WoW: Shadowlands is being massively nerfed – we reveal what has changed.
Anyone who has checked the official forums or the subreddit of World of Warcraft in recent days has likely been overwhelmed by negative posts. Almost every other major post discussed Torghast and the issues that the game mode has faced after some changes.
What were the complaints? Players had a whole range of complaints regarding Torghast. The biggest points of criticism were:
- A single run takes over 2 hours – that’s too much.
- Enemies have too many hit points and that makes the fights simply boring.
- Some bosses are nearly impossible with certain classes and can end a 2-hour run in a matter of seconds.
- There are too few notable rewards.
Blizzard is now addressing part of the criticism. While there are still no new rewards, as those will come with the twisted corridors, there is a large amount of nerfs that should make Torghast more bearable.
What will change? Blizzard is making a variety of changes. Everything from nerfs to enemies to buffs to players is included. The highlights are:
- The damage of all creatures in Torghast has been reduced by 6% (Level 1) up to 28% (Level 8).
- The health points of all creatures have been reduced in groups by 25%.
- All creatures deal 20% less damage in groups of 4 or 5 players.
- If the empowered enemy at the end of a corridor is a spellcaster, there is now a greater delay between their spell casts.
- The major cooldowns of all classes will now reset upon entering a new corridor.
- Unnatural Power no longer makes creatures immune to control effects at 10 stacks.
A lot of work has also been done on the Anima Cells, as they have become more powerful and generally better:
- The first Anima Cell is now always a strong choice.
- Anima Cells that drop from rare enemies now always have at least 3 options to choose from.
- The chance that enemies leave behind Anima Cells has been increased across all corridors.
There are also some nerfs to various bosses and mechanics. Many spellcasters now use their spells less frequently, so that all classes can interrupt them more reliably. Additionally, many negative effects no longer stack as often.
When do the changes go live? A large part of the changes has already been implemented over the last day. The remaining changes should arrive today, presumably with the server restart – however, they might also simply go live as it is a hotfix.
How the community reacts: The players’ reactions are overwhelmingly positive at first glance. For example, rpolitics_sucks writes in the subreddit with over 2,000 upvotes:
I am VERY happy and VERY impressed with how quickly they reacted. They even specifically said that they want to make it easier for some specializations, which is why I believe that more good things will come.
Stunsthename feels the same:
These are all great changes. I am very happy that they listened to the players and did so quickly.
What do you think of the changes? Is it a good thing that Torghast is now more bearable? Or did you enjoy the long runs that were often doomed to fail?
Elsewhere, WoW has become tougher – the raid Castle Nathria has suddenly become more difficult!
