The dream of many WoW players is finally coming true. With Shadowlands, you can play visually accurate High Elves – this is possible for both the Alliance and the Horde.
When Blizzard announced the Allied Races with “Battle for Azeroth,” many Alliance players wished for High Elves. Visually, they would have been Blood Elves, but with blue eyes, still untainted and without the influence of Fel magic. However, all that pleading was in vain; the Alliance only received Void Elves, who looked rather different. Blood Elves received golden eyes in the Horde, but there was no blue.
With Shadowlands, Blizzard seems to have thrown their hands in the air and thought: “Why not? High Elves for everyone!” – Because that’s exactly what World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is bringing us.
What has Blizzard done? In a small preview post, Blizzard showcased some of the new options that will be available to Blood Elf and Void Elf players in the future. This includes mainly blue eyes, but also a lot of new skin tones, particularly many dark shades.
Void Elves are also getting a pretty big upgrade – they will now be able to choose many skin colors that were previously only available to Blood Elves. So they no longer have to choose a bluish-gray skin tone but can opt for light and dark skin tones like their Blood Elf counterparts.
What does that mean? In plain terms, this means that all players – whether in the Horde or the Alliance – can play true High Elves with Shadowlands. Essentially, characters with the model of a High Elf and the corresponding blue eyes.
Especially role-players have long desired this. Even though it can now be assumed that a previously small splinter group within the Alliance will soon represent a large part of the RP population.
This should finally put an end to the eternal “nagging” around High Elves. Both sides are getting everything. If everyone is not satisfied now, then there really is no helping them.
Are you excited about these “High Elves”? Or would you have preferred a unique race with its own racial bonuses ?
