Ashran in World of Warcraft is being revamped. A temporary fix is intended to help, but it makes the “epic battleground” considerably less epic.
A battleground in World of Warcraft has been suffering significant issues since its “reintroduction”. In the epic battleground Ashran, very little is going according to plan. Often, there are difficulties in gameplay flow, leading to frustration among players. Blizzard’s temporary solution is quite simple: The epic battleground will be a little less epic.
What is the problem with Ashran? The epic battleground Ashran was reintroduced with Patch 8.2 Rise of Azshara to fit the current content. Originally, Ashran was a PvP zone in the expansion “Warlords of Draenor”. Since Patch 8.2, players can once again enter Ashran as an “epic battleground”. This is a category of battlegrounds that are particularly large, like Alterac Valley or Isle of Conquest.
However, Ashran has been struggling with many problems since its reintroduction. At the top of the list is poor performance, as there are frequent large lags and stutters that make normal gameplay almost impossible. This is mainly due to the fact that 80 players clash in Ashran, and there is essentially “one large zerg”. This is especially felt at the beginning of the battle.
You shouldn’t expect new content anytime soon – Here’s how to deal with it.
This is how Blizzard plans to fix it: A hotfix has drastically reduced the number of players for Ashran. Instead of 80 players, now only 50 players are battling in Ashran – on both sides, the team size has been reduced from 40 to 25 players.
Blizzard hopes for better performance in the battleground, which should at least reduce the players’ biggest frustrations. However, this is only a temporary solution, as they plan to “temporarily” reduce the player count.
Do you enjoy playing the Ashran battleground? Or can you not relate to this BG at all?
