A new update excites Twinks and latecomers in World of Warcraft. The legendary cloak will soon be significantly easier to upgrade.
The legendary cloak in World of Warcraft has been a problem since its introduction with Patch 8.3. Not only was leveling the cloak cumbersome, but further upgrading the Corruption Resistance has been a thorn in the side of many players. Now Blizzard has taken notice and is bringing a new way to level up the cloak quickly.
What was the problem? Previously, the legendary cloak could be upgraded by 3 points of Corruption Resistance each week if it was at Rank 15. Those who fell behind could perform up to 2 upgrades per week to increase the value by 6. However, this had a massive problem. Those who are just now getting the cloak and want to catch up need a whopping three months for this. This hurdle was seen as too great by many players. The effort required was simply immense.
This is changing now: With the new hotfix, it is now possible to buy the “Malignant Cores” directly from MOTHER. They cost 2,000 Echoes of Ny’alotha. While this may seem a lot at first glance, the Echoes can be farmed endlessly. Those who already have good Corruption on their gear have no other use for the Echoes for the time being and can safely spend them on upgrading the cloak.
The cores can be purchased as often as needed until the character has caught up to the current maximum of Corruption Resistance.
This also has the advantage that players no longer necessarily have to tackle Disturbing Visions or N’Zoth in the raid. Cores can now also be farmed through other activities – such as Emissary Quests.
Not everyone is satisfied: Despite the change, there are still some loud voices who are not happy. Some players wish that Blizzard would make the progress on the cloak directly account-wide. They see another farming mechanic to catch up as nothing but a “Time-Sink” that they have no desire for.
