The first place in the ranking on MeinMMO goes to the Druid with 171 votes (11.18%).
What makes Druids special? Druids have four specializations as the only class in World of Warcraft and can not only fulfill every role but also do so in different ways.
They are considered the “jack-of-all-trades” in the MMORPG, as they possess a variety of abilities from other classes, albeit in a diminished form. Druids are particularly popular for their ability to resurrect players in battle.
The specializations of the Druid
- Balance: Balance Druids (“Owls”) fight at range in Moonkin form. They excel at dealing damage to a single enemy while maintaining DoTs on multiple targets.
- Feral: Feral Druids fight as cats in melee and primarily work with bleed abilities and DoTs. Like Rogues, they build up combo points and use them for strong finishing moves. They are very mobile but need time for their damage to reach its maximum.
- Guardian: Guardians are the tanks of the class and bind enemies to themselves while in bear form. Despite their mitigation, they rely heavily on the healer and are generally weaker than other tanks in most situations. However, they bring useful abilities such as “Rebirth” and “Stimulating Roar.”
- Restoration: The healers were once known as “trees” due to their Treant form, but now heal as humanoids. Their healing spells are predominantly HoTs, which they spread to many targets and heal over time. This allows them to move relatively freely without sacrificing much healing.
Changes to the Classes
The ranking of the currently most popular classes could shift significantly with the upcoming Shadowlands expansion. There are numerous old abilities being returned to the classes that will change them.
With these abilities, both their utility and popularity could change significantly.
In addition to the returning abilities, there are also new covenant abilities that are different for each class. Depending on which of the four covenants from Shadowlands you choose, you will have access to new skills that change your playstyle.
