A new book for World of Warcraft provides fresh hints about the next expansion – and perhaps the release date.
Meanwhile, a certain rhythm has been established for the release of new expansions for World of Warcraft. Whenever an expansion is nearing its end, Blizzard commissions an author to weave the story of the current game with the next expansion.
It seems that this is the case again. Because on Amazon, the book “Before the Storm (World of Warcraft)” by Christie Golden has appeared, which is set to be released on May 15, 2018. The description is, loosely translated, as follows:
“After the events of ‘Shadows of Argus’, World of Warcraft: Before the Storm tells the story of what awaits the heroes of the Horde and Alliance once the battle against the demonic Burning Legion has come to an end.”
At least the title “Before the Storm” suggests that the expansion has something to do with the sea – and therefore, Kul Tiras could indeed be the next travel destination. However, this is just speculation, and it will likely take until BlizzCon in 2 weeks for us to get more precise information.
Golden is now permanently writing for Blizzard
The author Christie Golden recently announced that she is now permanently employed by Blizzard. This likely means that we will experience new stories from the Warcraft universe in book form much more frequently in the future.
Some fans even believe they can derive the release date of the next expansion from this. The book about Illidan was released about 4 months before the launch of the Legion expansion. For “Before the Storm”, this timeframe would mean that the next expansion would arrive in September 2018, thus technically still falling in summer.
The new addon could contain subraces for many races – at least this has been found in the game data!
