With WoW BC Classic, you can join the Aldor or the Seers, two factions that offer you powerful rewards. MeinMMO reveals which faction is better for your class or profession.
What are Aldor and Seers? The two factions are located in the new capital Shattrath, the first city shared by the Horde and Alliance:
- the Aldor are the priesthood of the Draenei and they follow the Light and the Naaru – see here who should play Aldor
- the Seers are Blood Elves who have broken with Kael’thas and now fight him – see here who should play Seers
Both factions offer you unique and some similar rewards as your reputation with them increases. Since there are differences, the respective factions are better or worse for some classes.
Generally, the differences are absolutely minimal. In the end, you will only be looking at a few percent that make one faction better than the other. So don’t be blinded by pure numbers. If the Seers are “better,” but you’d rather play Aldor, then play Aldor. You won’t have any significant disadvantage.
Aldor and Seers – How do I join the factions?
This is how you become a Seer or Aldor: Once you travel to Shattrath at level 60, a gaunt war veteran will give you the quest “A’dal”. For this, you need to go to the Naaru in the city center and speak with him, after which the mage Khadgar will give you another quest.
This quest takes you on a tour of Shattrath. Tip for a shortcut: Just go up to the Naaru G’eras in the west of the central building. There, the tour ends, and you complete the quest once your companion arrives there.
After the introductory quest, you can choose whether you want to join the Seers or the Aldor with Khadgar. He offers two mutually exclusive quests for which you will receive 3,500 reputation for the corresponding faction.
By the way, it is irrelevant which faction you belong to. Alliance players can also become Seers, and Horde players can also be Aldor. There are only two exceptions:
- the new Draenei are automatically friendly with the Aldor and unfriendly with the Seers
- the new Blood Elves are automatically friendly with the Seers and unfriendly with the Aldor
Can I only join one faction? In principle, yes, although it is possible not to join either of the two factions. However, this is not advisable, as you would miss out on important advantages.
In principle, you swear loyalty to the respective faction. Each time you gain reputation with one faction, you lose a corresponding amount of reputation with the other faction. In other words: The higher your reputation with one faction increases, the more the other despises you and may even attack you later.
Can I switch factions? Yes, it is possible, through extensive grinding and collecting items later on to increase your reputation with the faction that hates you. You need 1,344 units of specific items from a “hateful” reputation for each:
- Terror toxin bags for the quest “Dwindling Supplies” at Sha’nir in the Lower District
- Eyes of Mistvale Basilisks for the quest “Voren’thal’s Visions” at Arcanist Adyria in the Lower District

- Hunters (except Survival)
- Paladins
- Priests
- Rogues
- Shamans (except Elemental)
- Warriors
Blacksmiths and leatherworkers also find recipes for armor with fire resistance here. The recipes are faction-bound, but you can simply buy the crafted items.
Tailors can learn silver and golden threading from the Aldor, which increases healing and stamina on pants. The threads are also tradable.
Benefits of the Aldor
The most important rewards offered by the factions are enchantments for shoulder pieces. You get the best ones once you achieve exalted reputation. At the Aldor, you receive the following enchantments:

Additionally, you will receive some bind-on-pick-up items for purchase and through quests at the Aldor. Noteworthy is a ring with agility and attack power for melee and ranged fighters who rely on agility.
With the Sunwell in Phase 6, which is at the very end of BC Classic, there are also additional effects for the neckpieces of the Shattered Sun. At the Aldor, you receive the following effects:

By the way, the only jewelcrafting trainer is also located at the Aldor Rise. In addition, you gain access to some flight points in the world that Seers cannot use.

- Elemental Shamans
Blacksmiths and leatherworkers also find recipes for armor with arcane resistance here. The recipes are faction-bound, but you can simply buy the crafted items.
Tailors at the Seers can learn mystical and rune-embroidered threads, which increase spell damage and stamina on pants.
Alchemists receive a recipe for an Elixir of Substantial Fire Power from the Seers, which increases damage caused by fire spells. All crafted items are tradable.
Benefits of the Seers
As with the Aldor, the shoulder enchantments for Seers are the most important features for most classes. You receive the great enchantments with exalted reputation:

A special, bind-on-pick-up item at the Seers is the Seer’s Blood Gem, which you can buy from a respectful reputation.
The gem is one of the best items in the game for spellcasters, increases your spell hit rating, and can be used to increase your spell damage by 150 and healing by 280 for 15 seconds (1 minute, 30 seconds cooldown).
With the Sunwell in Phase 6, which is at the very end of BC Classic, there are also additional effects for the neckpieces of the Shattered Sun. At the Seers, you receive the following effects:

Even though the factions may occasionally have advantages, every class finds something useful with both the Aldor and the Seers. So don’t be misled by pure numbers if it would detract from your fun.
That it is possible to do without the factions, as shown by the best players of BC Classic. They completed the first raids less than 24 hours after release and some didn’t even reach level 70.
