Some artifact weapons in World of Warcraft: Legion could speak to their wielder and occasionally whispered small voice lines. Those who use the weapon skins of the artifact weapons in the “Battle for Azeroth” expansion for transmogification will still be able to hear the voices.
What is it about? Some weapons in Legion whisper to their wielders. When performing certain actions, such as opening a portal, killing an opponent, or summoning a specific demon, the player is whispered by the weapon, which comments on the events.
Which weapons are affected? The talking weapons in Legion were the Skull of Thal’kiel (Demonology Warlock), Aluneth (Arcane Mage), and Xal’atath (Shadow Priest).
How does it work? In the Beta of Battle for Azeroth, you simply need to give your current weapon the appearance of the corresponding artifact weapon. This can be done at the NPC for transmogification.
Thanks to Transmogification, the Whispers Remain
Many players had already complained beforehand that with Patch 8.0, the artifact weapons would be phased out. Especially the aforementioned weapons with their own personalities and voice lines had won the hearts of the players.
Especially shadow priests had developed a particularly close bond with their dagger Xal’atath, which they affectionately call “Knaifu” – a mix of “Knife” and “Waifu.” They simply do not want to part with the seductive voice that slowly leads them into the abyss of madness.
Warlocks, Mages, and Priests can therefore look forward to still being teased by their weapons in the future.
However, keep in mind that this information is from the Beta of Battle for Azeroth. By the release in August, Blizzard could still discard the plans and silence the weapon skins.
