Players of World of Warcraft no longer need to buy “Legion” separately – at least not if they purchase Battle for Azeroth. There seems to be no option to buy Legion on its own anymore.
A few days ago, Blizzard announced the official release date for World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. Starting August 14, 2018, players can finally explore the new continents of Zandalar and Kul Tiras, gather Allied Races, and give the opposing faction a good virtual kicking.
However, with the announcement of BfA, the days of the current expansion Legion are numbered. Anyone who hasn’t bought Legion yet might not be interested anymore. Because at the latest with the release of Battle for Azeroth, buying Legion is no longer necessary.
Legion is now part of Battle for Azeroth
Apparently, Blizzard is aware of this issue and has taken precautions this time. That’s why there is now a new package available in the shop that includes all expansions.
- Instead of having to buy Legion separately, it is now fully integrated into the purchase price of Battle for Azeroth. The “World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth & Legion” package costs €45 which is the same as buying Battle for Azeroth alone.
- Those starting a brand new account will pay €5 more (thus €50) for the “World of Warcraft: Complete Collection” and receive 30 days of game time credited.
Currently, “Legion” cannot be purchased separately in the shop anymore, which could indicate that this offer will remain active until the release of Battle for Azeroth (and beyond). However, there is no guarantee for that.
However, those who wanted to buy “only” Legion are out of luck – it seems that is no longer possible at the current state, at least not through the Battle.net shop. With a physical version of Legion, the upgrade should still be possible.
What do you think of this offer? A great thing for all newcomers? Or just a clever trick to boost pre-sales?
If you later buy the Collector’s Edition, you can actually get your money back!
