Battle for Azeroth is now more or less “complete”; everything has been seen and completed. But how do you evaluate this WoW expansion?
With the victory of Limit over the mythic version of N’Zoth in the raid Ny’alotha, the story of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth is over. While there was still hope for an additional cinematic, it never came. After almost 18 months of this expansion, now is the perfect time to look back over the entire expansion and then ask: How did you like Battle for Azeroth as a whole?
Battle for Azeroth began as a large project and aimed to reignite the war between the Horde and Alliance and bring it to a conclusion. This has worked fundamentally, even though a few story arcs remain unresolved – but that will surely follow in later expansions.
Launch faced great criticism: The launch of Battle for Azeroth went largely smoothly, but soon problems with various systems appeared. Island expeditions were boring, the warfront was monotonous, and Azerite gear caused a lot of frustration. Many of the new features felt inappropriate or simply dull to players, while Titanforging and Warforging continued to be criticized.
Many features have been improved: Over the course of the patches, Blizzard has implemented a lot of feedback, making Azerite armor more accessible and making the Heart of Azeroth more exciting with essences. Island expeditions have also been revised several times and now feel better – at least for a part of the player base.
Especially criticism of Patch 8.3 was great, which offered players too little content.
What criteria should you vote on? What you base your evaluation on is of course up to you and is massively influenced by subjectivity. However, if you want to take a moment, consider these aspects and how you liked them or how well they were implemented:
- Number, scope, and release pace of patches
- The time you spent in the game
- New features: Warfronts, Island Expeditions, War Mode, Allied Races
- Recurring endgame tasks such as world quests, Heart of Azeroth, Mythic+, and raids
- Design of the areas of Zandalar and Kul Tiras
- The story and related cutscenes
- The overall balance between classes
