With Patch 8.1, there is a new vendor in World of Warcraft. He sells the highest quality Azerite armor that the game has to offer.
For many weeks, players of World of Warcraft have complained about the Azerite system. It is too difficult to obtain suitable items for head, shoulders, and chest. There is far too much randomness in the game, when it comes to the weekly reward chest for “Mythic+” dungeons. Blizzard agrees. With Patch 8.1, there is a new vendor who sells Azerite armor.
What does the vendor sell? The new vendor Thaumaturg Vashreen has a whole range of items available, including:
- Chests for dungeon Azerite armor at item levels 355, 370, and 385, sorted by armor slot (head, chest, shoulder). The higher the quality of the chest, the more expensive it is.
- Specific dungeon Azerite armor at item level 385, as a long-term goal for “top players”.
This is how to obtain the new currency: To buy the Azerite items, one needs a new currency that currently has no name. It can be earned from the “Mythic+” chest, which is awarded on Wednesdays for dungeons completed in the previous week. The harder the dungeon, the more currency is earned (“Mythic+10” gives more currency than “Mythic+2”).
Players also receive the new currency when they dismantle high-quality Azerite armor or disenchant it.
How much currency is needed? Blizzard has not yet determined how much of the currency is needed to buy Azerite armor. However, the plan is that players should be able to purchase an item roughly every 2-3 weeks that corresponds to their reward from “Mythic+” dungeons.
Farming is not worth it yet: There is still no reason to stockpile Azerite items for Patch 8.1. Only Azerite armor that players receive after the launch of Patch 8.1 can drop the new currency when dismantled. So you do not need to hoard old armor.
Vendor remains up to date: It is also important that vendor Vashreen will be updated regularly. When a new “Mythic+” season begins, the vendor’s inventory will be upgraded to stay reasonably current.
Fans express satisfaction: The initial feedback from players is overwhelmingly positive. They praise Blizzard for finally responding to player feedback and creating a way to work towards a specific reward.
The vendor comes with Patch 8.1 Tides of Vengeance. There is not yet a release date for the update.
