Another leak reveals when World of Warcraft continues. Only a few weeks until the Pre-Patch of Midnight starts.
Before we start the next expansion Midnight, the release of the Pre-Patch is coming in World of Warcraft. It already brings a lot of content from the upcoming addon, but it usually also has a pre-event attached. Through data mining, it has now been discovered when the pre-event is supposed to start – and thus the release date of the patch is generally known.
When will Patch 12.0 be released? Patch 12.0 will be released on January 21 or 28, 2026, as per the data mining from wowhead. The start date for the pre-event, which involves the mysterious activities of cultists, is set for January 28.
In general, the patch is released one week before the start of such an event, allowing everyone to get used to the changes before preparing for the addon.
Pre-Patch to be released in January, brings neighborhoods and cultists event
What’s included in the Pre-Patch? The Pre-Patch of Midnight, that is Update 12.0, contains a number of features. Essentially, it already includes all important systems of the upcoming expansion. Among the biggest changes are:
- Many class adjustments, such as the revised talent trees and optimizations in healing.
- Stat squish, the numbers will be shrunk back to a smaller scale.
- Neighborhoods: Housing will be fully implemented, allowing for various neighborhood activities to finally be addressed.
- The pre-event, where the Shadowhammer cultists will cause chaos all over the world.
- Devourer is available as a new specialization for demon hunters and can be played immediately.
When does Midnight officially start? After the pre-patch, it usually takes another 4 to 6 weeks until the release actually takes place. This aligns with the previously leaked release date, which is set for early March. The release leak has gained even more credibility with the new leak for the pre-event.
