Three theories are circulating about the future of World of Warcraft. But which of these addons do you really wish for?
BlizzCon 2017 is just around the corner, taking place this coming weekend. At Blizzard’s in-house fair, there are guaranteed to be plenty of new revelations, including the next expansion of World of Warcraft.
Fans are already wildly speculating what the next expansion could be about. Currently, three theories are particularly prominent, which we will briefly introduce to you.
The Black Empire – “Cataclysm 2”
With the end of the Legion, the old gods have lost their greatest adversaries. N’Zoth, the last remaining old god, rises and once again plunges the world into the darkness of the Black Empire. Many known areas of Azeroth will change and be soaked in the madness of the old god.
This would essentially mean a renewed “overhaul” of the old world, as was the case with Cataclysm. The old areas would be filled with new adversaries and would remain fresh for a long time thanks to world quests and phasing.
Additionally, some new zones would be introduced, such as Ny’alotha or the Black Forest. “Underground” areas would also be possible, following the model of the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj or Deepholm.
Kul Tiras – Ships, Pirates, and Naga
One of the oldest leaks points to Kul Tiras and the surrounding island areas. After all, armor sets have already been mined from the game data that even show maps of Kul Tiras. The island folk is the only kingdom of humans that has never fallen. Additionally, it is speculated that Jaina Proudmoore is currently in Kul Tiras planning her campaign against the Horde.
The Horde, on the other hand, could gain new allies through the trolls, who are still present on the island of Zandalar. Troll King Rastakhan could use a pact with the Horde, as his island is not only drowning in water but also in numerous problems while the Naga continue to pour forth from the waters.
Queen Azshara would also need to rise from the depths of the seas and lead her Naga into battle – the lady has had very little to say recently.
Lordaeron – War in Familiar Grounds
The latest speculations point to Lordaeron and new conflicts in the former kingdoms of men. Currently, Sylvanas Windrunner is the ruler of Undercity – but is it perhaps time for the Alliance to initiate a recapture? After all, Sylvanas’ sisters Alleria and Vereesa are back together and are not pleased with the actions of their undead sister.
The plot would mainly focus on the northern part of the Eastern Kingdoms. Since there is still unused space north of Tirisfal, a few new zones will likely appear here as well.
We want to know from you: Which of these 3 scenarios excites you the most?
Concrete information will be available this weekend when we report on the BlizzCon.
