The big Patch 8.0 for World of Warcraft is just around the corner. We will tell you everything you need to know about it.
On July 18, the wait is over, and World of Warcraft leaves Legion behind to begin the era of Battle for Azeroth. Along with this come many changes and innovations that you can experience even before the actual release of the expansion in August. We provide a brief overview of the biggest and most important innovations that Patch 8.0 will bring you.
The Stat Squish. The Stat Squish, also known as “Stat Squish” or “Item Squish”, ensures that all numbers in World of Warcraft will become smaller. Item levels, attribute points, damage, and healing will drastically decrease, making the numbers easier to understand. However, the relative power of your character will not change, as enemies will also become accordingly weaker.
Deactivation of Artifact Weapons. The properties and bonuses of the Artifact Weapons will be deactivated, just like their special ability. However, you can still wear and use the weapons until you find a better weapon in Battle for Azeroth.
Abolition of PvP Servers. With Patch 8.0, there is the new War Mode. Players in Orgrimmar and Stormwind can choose to activate PvP and will then be in “War Mode”. This way, they will only see other players who have also activated PvP. This system completely abolishes PvP servers. There will only be regular and RP servers.
Honor Merges. The prestige level of all your characters will be dissolved, and the honor of the entire account will be consolidated. This will give you your new honor level. If you have multiple characters with high prestige levels, you can expect to receive some rewards retroactively.
Communities and Voice Chat. There are new social features for all players. World of Warcraft is reintroducing voice chat, allowing for better communication in-game. If that is not enough, you can also join communities – which function essentially like small Discord servers, but are tied to individual characters.
New Talents. Patch 8.0 drastically overhauls the talents and playstyles of many classes, as they now have to manage without their artifact weapons. So make sure to check the abilities of your class and its talents after logging in, as things will have changed dramatically!
Global Cooldowns. Many abilities in World of Warcraft will again be subject to a Global Cooldown. Certain buffs cannot be activated simultaneously with just one keystroke anymore, but must be activated individually and in succession. This is intended to make decisions feel more significant again.
Personal Loot and Traditional Loot. With Patch 8.0, personal loot is the only loot system that exists in current content. Loot Masters, Need before Greed, and other systems will be completely abolished. At the same time, players can activate a “traditional” loot mode in “old” dungeons to also receive loot that doesn’t actually correspond to their specialization.
New Customization Options. Some races will receive special, new customization options. For example, Orcs can walk upright, and Blood Elves can give themselves golden eyes. We have presented the exact customizations here.
Are you looking forward to the Pre-Patch 8.0 and the many changes in World of Warcraft?
