A new raid is on the horizon in World of Warcraft. We’ll tell you when the Mausoleum of the First opens in all modes.
Patch 9.2 of World of Warcraft is virtually at the door. Just a few days left until the latest update arrives. This leads players into the “End of Eternity” and the mysterious area of Zereth Mortis. As is often the case, the highlight for many players is the new raid, the “Mausoleum of the First”. A total of 11 bosses await in the grand concluding raid of Shadowlands.
We’ll reveal when the raids open and what to expect.
As usual, the release of the raid depends on the level at which you plan to tackle the raid. Initially, only the normal and heroic modes will be available, with the mythic mode following a little later. LFR players will have to wait particularly long – the individual wings will be unlocked over the course of many weeks. The exact release dates of the raid are:
- March 1: Normal and heroic difficulty levels start, except for the last 3 bosses (Lords of Terror, Rygelon, and the Jailer).
- March 8: The last 3 bosses will be unlocked in normal and heroic.
All bosses will be unlocked on mythic difficulty.
The 1st LFR wing will be unlocked (Attentive Guardian, Skolex, the Insatiable Devourer, Constructor Xy’mox, and Halondrus the Reclaimer) - March 22: 2nd LFR wing will be unlocked (Dausegne, the Fallen Oracle, Prototype Pantheon, and Lihuvim, the Grand Architect).
- April 5: 3rd LFR wing will be unlocked (Anduin Wrynn, Lords of Terror, Rygelon)
- April 19: 4th LFR wing will be unlocked (The Jailer)
Why is it separated this time? The developers want to tell two storylines with the Mausoleum of the First this time. The first interim step is the final battle against Anduin Wrynn. After that, some time passes in the story, the last three fights take place significantly later. Therefore, the raid is split at this point and at least in normal and heroic modes, there is a delay in unlocking.
When does the World First race start? As is customary in World of Warcraft, there will be a “World First” race again this time. The best guilds in the world attempt to be the first to defeat the Jailer and conquer the raid on mythic difficulty. The event will be streamed live by several guilds. The starting signal will be given on the afternoon of March 7, when the raid opens its doors on the American realms, followed a few hours later by the European realms.
When will there be a cinematic? Also for story lovers, the most important date will likely be March 7. Then the raid opens on normal difficulty in America and the last bosses are accessible. It will likely only take a few hours until the first players complete the raid and thus unlock a new cinematic. However, there might also be a cinematic after defeating Anduin – in that case, February 28 could be interesting. As soon as new cinematics are released, we will of course report on it.
Are you already excited about the new raid? What are your hopes for the cinematic?
