Nearly 3,000 “likes” agree with Metzen on Twitter, though a discussion has also erupted under the tweet.
More story is coming: Patty Mattson, the voice of Sylvanas in the English original, is also trying to smooth things over a bit. Since she has portrayed Sylvanas for many years, she may have some insight into the future of the Banshee Queen. She explains: “Remember – this is just [Patch] 9.1… there is still much to be revealed…”
When it comes to World of Warcraft and its associated story, some people clearly know no bounds and go overboard – especially when the story doesn’t develop exactly as they would have liked.
What do you think? Can you understand the drastic reactions? Or do you have no understanding for such behavior?
There is a lot of criticism aimed at the story writers of World of Warcraft. Some “fans” are so angry that they are sending death threats.
The latest cinematic for World of Warcraft is being wildly discussed. Especially on social media, many people are upset and criticize how “poorly written” the story of Shadowlands and Sylvanas Windrunner is. However, some critics go far beyond the target – they send massive insults and even death threats to the responsible authors.
What happened? Christie Golden has been facing massive backlash on Twitter for several days now. There are critical tweets, insults, and even some death threats. In response, the author explained:
Well, the first death threat. That didn’t take long. Reported, blocked, and also blocked everyone who liked it.
Who is Christie Golden? Long-time Warcraft fans may already know Christie Golden, as she has written various novels for WoW, including “Arthas – Rise of the Lich King,” “War Crimes,” and “Before the Storm.” She is also the author of the upcoming “Sylvanas” book. Additionally, she has been working directly at Blizzard for several years and is responsible for the story in World of Warcraft.
Former story chief shows solidarity: Golden receives support and encouragement from Chris Metzen, who was the story chief of Warcraft before leaving Blizzard a few years ago. In the minds of many, Metzen is regarded as the “story messiah,” even though his work also received a lot of criticism back then.
On Twitter, Metzen showed solidarity with Golden and stated:
Hey Christie Golden, I love what you’re doing. Your creativity brings life to the worlds. Stories and their twists are certainly important, but having the courage to tell them at all is what really matters.
