For many transmog fans, this is the best change from patch 8.1 in World of Warcraft: Finally, there is a top hat to get.
The patch 8.1 Tides of Vengeance of World of Warcraft is full of great new features. But a small change was only included in the latest version of the patch on the PTR: a very special hat.
The long-awaited top hat: Since Cataclysm, there has been a model of a top hat in the game, which until now was only suitable for Worgen. With patch 8.1, there is the new transmog set “Duskhaven” – the name of a town from the Worgen starting area. It is suspected that the set and thus the cloth top hat will drop on the new island “Havenswood”, which thematically fits the Worgen.
Few top hats, but no transmog: So far, there are only two top hats in the game that can be worn permanently. These are Lord Walden’s top hat from the Worgen starting area and a rare hat from the Blingtron reward. Since both are white items that have no stats and are not approved for transmog, they are currently only suitable for role players and not for “combat transmogs.” This should now change.
Fans are thrilled: How excited the transmog fans are can be easily seen from the comments on wowhead. There are reactions from players such as:
- ARE WE FINALLY GETTING EASILY OBTAINABLE TOP HATS?
- CAN IT BE. AFTER SO MANY YEARS. TRANSMOGRIFIABLE TOP HATS!
- They should really, really be cosmetic items. But honestly, I believe they are cloth. It’s a start.
Are the top hats “just” cloth? The previous transmog sets from the island expeditions can be assigned to a clear armor class (cloth, leather, chain or plate), which is why there are concerns that the two sets with the top hat will only be available for cloth wearers.
