In World of Warcraft Shadowlands there is a massive XP buff active. Now is the perfect time to level up a few characters.
During the current heat wave, it is tempting to just cover the windows and stay indoors in front of the computer – and Blizzard gives you a few more incentives for that in World of Warcraft. Because in “Retail-WoW”, that is Shadowlands, a new buff is now active that increases your gained experience by 50%! But you don’t have much time to use it. So get your twinks ready while you can.
What kind of buff is this? The buff “Winds of Wisdom” grants characters between level 10 and 59 an increase of 50% XP from all sources. Whether you are completing quests, killing enemies, looting chests, or tackling dungeons – the XP from all these sources is increased. Thus, the necessary time to level up a character is reduced by nearly 33%.
Until when is the buff active? The duration of the buff is only for a full two weeks, from July 20, 2022, to August 3, 2022. With the start of Season 4, the bonus will end. Therefore, now is the perfect time to prepare a few characters for the last season of Shadowlands – or simply to get ready for Dragonflight at the end of the year.
Why is the buff only valid starting at level 10? Although Blizzard does not officially give a reason for this, it most likely has to do with the Exiled Lands, the starting area for new characters. This tutorial has a fairly precise length that ranges exactly from level 1 to 10 before leaving the island. If the XP on the island were to be drastically increased, it would cause problems, and players wouldn’t be able to experience the tutorial properly.
What else can you do with the buff? If you already have all desired classes at max level, the 50% additional XP is also worthwhile to unlock pending Legacy gear from Allied Races. You can only obtain this if you leveled up the Allied Race manually from level 10 to 50 – meaning without purchasing a level boost.
Aside from that, it is of course also a good time to bring a few friends to World of Warcraft, who have been put off by the leveling process – because if you put in the effort, you can now reach max level in just a few evenings.
