An annoying bug is causing issues in World of Warcraft. Players are losing their entire quest progress – help seems impossible.
After a small patch of the WoW servers, there have been numerous complaints from players. Apparently, a new error has crept in, causing the quest log of a character to be completely deleted. All quests are then canceled.
Cancellation of all quests in the quest log: Numerous players report that when logging into their characters or when “zoning” – that is, switching from one area to another – their quest log is suddenly empty. All quests are canceled. This is particularly frustrating for larger missions that take weeks or months, such as certain raid quests. Sometimes, one must form raid groups for several weeks to complete missions.
No refunds possible: Blizzard has already stated in the forum that restoring the old quest progress is not possible. A “rollback” of the servers is also not an option. An exception applies to quests where actual quest items are accumulated in the inventory. These should be restored to their old status after accepting the quest again.
Hotfix is ineffective: Blizzard reacted quickly and already deployed a hotfix after a few hours that was supposed to fix the problem. However, it did not. Many players are still reporting that their quest log automatically clears and all quests are canceled.
If you want to be safe, you should not log into characters that have an important quest in the log until a final solution is provided.
Given the severity of the problem, it can be expected that Blizzard will deliver a working fix within a few hours.
Are you affected by the bug? Were any of your quests reset? Or are you lucky and spared?
