This is why Zanegreen was banned: On January 21, the son of Zanegreen spoke up in the official WoW subreddit. In a thread, he explained that his father was mistaken for a bot and consequently received a 6-month ban.
He has played WoW since the launch of Burning Crusade. He is a 70-year-old man who simply enjoys questing and leveling new characters. He doesn’t talk much. The son continues in his post that he and his brother have already reached out to Blizzard’s support multiple times. However, they couldn’t achieve anything and their father remained banned. That’s why he reached out to the subreddit.
He posted the ban date and the number of the first ticket so that other reddit users could request a revision of the ban.

This is what happened next: The reddit thread gathered over 4,000 upvotes in less than a day and caught Blizzard’s attention. While some users expressed skepticism about the truthfulness of the story, others offered their sympathy and support.
Some shared that their parents or other family members also play WoW in an “unusual” way. They go on adventures alone or just look at the landscapes and read quest texts.
Subsequently, community employee Kalviery responded in the thread with an offer for a conversation. However, he emphasized that due to privacy reasons, he could only speak with the account holder, meaning Zanegreen himself.

The son thanked the users and Kalviery for their help and posted pictures of his father holding a note “Thank you reddit!” as well as a screenshot of the notification of the unban as proof. As compensation for the unjust ban, the account received 30 days of game time.
