Paladin Rextroy is rampaging in World of Warcraft again. He one-shots players in the arena – and it’s completely legal at a high ranking.
Paladin Rextroy has built quite a reputation in World of Warcraft over the years. Few players uncover as many strange exploits or absurdly funny methods to tackle challenges in the game. Now he also dominates the arena, dishing out “one-shots” continually – and it’s all perfectly legal.
How does it work? Rextroy has been saving for a long time to buy the right Corruption effects from MOTHER. That means nine times “Infinite Stars Rank 3,” totaling Rank 27, since all ranks are combined. This gives him a ridiculous corruption of 625, but also results in Infinite Stars, which in PvP can deal between 450,000 and 600,000 damage on the first hit – and double in critical cases. Many players are knocked out immediately by just one attack.
How does he survive this? 625 corruption is the maximum possible. After reduction by the cloak, it’s still about 500 corruption. Therefore, Rextroy has a debuff that increases the damage he takes by 500 %. Once he gets attacked, his character could be defeated quite quickly. He bypasses this issue by combining a series of immunity mechanics. He uses his Divine Shield and the Guardian of the Forgotten Queen twice. This grants him 30 seconds of complete immunity to damage while he can continue attacking.
In most cases, fights are already decided by then, as Infinite Stars generally procs once or twice.
These were the problems: However, not everything went according to plan. A major problem arises with pet classes, such as Warlocks, Hunters, or Death Knights. Since Infinite Stars hits a random target within 40 yards, pets are often selected as targets too. This regularly caused Rextroy to lose matches along with his teammates. Nevertheless, it was enough for a rating of nearly 2,500.
What do you think of this way of playing PvP? A fun, interesting thing? Or does this undermine PvP as a whole?
