Pikkolo of the Flames
A long time before there were real “toys” or even a collection in World of Warcraft, players could obtain a handful of items that just had a “useless” but funny effect. One of these items was the Pikkolo of the Flames.
This could be equipped as a trinket and activated by pressing a button. Within a radius of 10 meters, all player characters would then start dancing. Whether they wanted to or not. Even while sitting or lying down.
However, obtaining the Pikkolo was no easy task. One had to venture into the instance of Stratholme and defeat the Herdsinger Forresten. However, this was not only a rare mob, meaning it only appeared occasionally, but also had different spawn positions.
Today, the Pikkolo is easier to obtain since Stratholme is very simple for max-level players. The Pikkolo has also since become a toy – and the duration of its effect has been reduced.
The Pikkolo of the Flames is also the reason why Blizzard has since introduced an event where there is a dance party in the auction house. In the past, players would enter the auction house in Orgrimmar or Ironforge with the Pikkolo and then set dozens of players dancing at the push of a button. Half of them found it funny, while the other half hated it. But both halves always loved to watch the female night elves dance. Ah, the good old days.
