The Carrot on a Stick
So? Who among you read the headline and had to grin knowingly? The Carrot on a Stick was “back then” during the time of World of Warcraft Classic a trinket that increased mount speed by 3% when equipped.
The Carrot on a Stick awaited at the end of a terribly long quest chain that led players around the world. From Thousand Needles, players were sent to Hinterlands (yes – a different continent), which could easily take an evening for a level 40 character. After that, they had to fight through an area full of elite trolls, then use the hammer in Zul’Farrak (Tanaris – again a different end of the world) to summon a specific boss.
Upon completing this quest chain, which could almost be called epic, the grand reward awaited: A Carrot on a Stick that could be held in front of the mount to encourage it to exert a bit more effort.

What now sounds like a bad joke was back then quite serious. There were only a few trinkets in the game, and even at the maximum level of 60, it sometimes took several weeks to get something better than the Barov’s Servant Bell.
In honor of the old quest chain, there were even fan comics:

By the way, in Legion there was once again a “Carrot on a Stick” – but this time it was only an equipment item for champions in the Order Hall – of course a speed buff.
On the last page, the probably most annoying (or coolest!) item in World of Warcraft awaits.
