The pre-patch of WoW: Wrath of the Lich King Classic has a date. Blizzard has released the schedule for the different phases.
The community of WoW Classic eagerly awaits the release of the most popular expansion of all time. Wrath of the Lich King Classic is on the starting line, and Blizzard has finally announced specific dates for when the pre-patch and thus the legendary zombie event goes live.
What kind of event is this? In the pre-event of Wrath of the Lich King Classic, players can be corrupted by the Scourge through contaminated grain supplies. After a short incubation period, they will turn into zombies – and thus hostile to all other players! It is now possible to infect other players in turn and thus plunge all of Azeroth into chaos.
The pre-event of WotLK is considered one of the most impressive of all time, as it makes a large part of the game world nearly unplayable for the duration of the event. While this annoys some players who find the event too intrusive, it is at least time-limited.
- August 31: The pre-patch will be released, bringing the major system changes of Wrath of the Lich King.
- September 6 – 13: The “Zombie Plague” event begins, during which you can spread chaos across the game world.
- September 13 – September 26: The Scourge invasions begin everywhere in the world. In the fight against the necropolises, you can earn particularly powerful rewards.
- September 27: Wrath of the Lich King Classic will be released at midnight (00:01).
- October 5: Arena season 5 begins.
- October 7: The first 3 raids open – Naxxramas, the Eye of Eternity, and the Obsidian Sanctum.
The further release plans for upcoming content, such as the Argent Tournament, Ulduar, and the Icecrown Citadel, are not yet known.
Event reintroduced in Shadowlands: Even 14 years after the original release of Wrath of the Lich King, the “Zombie Event” is still regarded as legendary and unforgettable – that’s why Blizzard brought it back, in a way, at the start of the current expansion Shadowlands. For several days, a similar chaos reigned. However, anyone wanting to experience the “original event” again should check out the Classic realms starting September 6. Because this event is unlikely to return anytime soon after.
