Blizzard stays true to itself, albeit in a negative way. In the major World of Warcraft Patch 6.0.2, a plethora of bugs crept in, causing particularly low-level characters to perish quickly.
Particularly hit hard were the Blood Elves. Anyone creating a new character here was quickly beaten to the grave by the first “Level 1 Manawyrm”. A staggering 500 damage was dealt by the standard attack, unfortunately exceeding the health pool of a new character by a multiple.
This was especially demotivating for new players who wanted to dive into Blizzard’s MMO with the big patch. But not only Blood Elves struggled with an “extremely high” difficulty level in World of Warcraft; many dungeons in the leveling phase suddenly reminded players of Classic times, leading to countless wipes. In the official forums, at least hell broke loose.

Shortly after a day, however, improvements were made, and many numbers were adjusted downwards via hotfix. The little Manawyrms now deal significantly more bearable 3-4 damage, and the Blood Elf starting area is no longer overrun by player skeletons.
But PvP players also suffered under the big patch; due to value adjustments, balance was thoroughly disrupted, and player-versus-player skirmishes were often decided within 2-3 seconds. To counter this, damage in PvP areas was generally reduced by 25%.

Apart from that, there is also good news: Anyone who joins a raid group and blows out Garrosh’s life lights can look forward to a guaranteed heirloom weapon – this scales up to level 100 and can thus be carried through the entire leveling process of the upcoming expansion. However, this guaranteed chance does not apply to the Raid Finder, so you will need to manually assemble a group and tackle one of the other difficulty levels – the effort is definitely worth it.
