World of Warships, a naval military MMO, starts today into an open beta and invites all landlubbers to come aboard.
If you want to accuse an MMO developer of seeking world domination, it’s… well, it’s probably Blizzard. But Wargaming is close behind. With World of Tanks, they have long since taken control of the land. With World of Warplanes, they have already taken to the skies. Now, with World of Warships, a spinoff from Wargaming aims to represent in the seven seas.
The games are action-oriented war simulations with MMO elements. They target a specific audience especially in Eastern Europe, who view World War II in retrospect a bit differently than we usually do.
Today, World of Warships enters open beta. The game has already received some early accolades, particularly praising the atmospheric graphics. The historical authenticity also gets a special mention in early previews. They are – even compared to a tank – massive behemoths that the player controls.
Anyone can participate in the open beta; like the other games from Wargaming, it is a free-to-play title. You start with 10 maps and authentic 90 warships.
