Wargaming’s naval action game World of Warships is coming to Steam soon. However, unfortunately, there is a significant catch that is likely to unsettle many players.
In World of Warships, you command a massive warship and mercilessly blast other ships to smithereens! Until now, you could only engage in epic sea battles on PC using the Wargaming launcher. However, Wargaming has announced that World of Warships will soon be available on Steam.
It is set to launch on November 15. Then you can conveniently start WoWS via the Steam launcher. Pretty great, huh?
Players were initially pleased, but then …
The players’ reactions were initially positive. Many were glad to finally be able to use their Steam wallet to pay for premium content. In World of Warships, you can purchase a variety of goodies such as premium time, cosmetic items for your ship, and particularly cool premium ships with real money. Additionally, players were excited that Warships can soon be easily started via Steam and that they can reach their friends more easily.
Unfortunately, not everything is perfect about the Steam version. According to the developers, the game was never designed for multi-platform gameplay. Therefore, unfortunately, progress from the regular PC version cannot be transferred to the Steam version. So those who want to fire up on Steam have to start completely from scratch! This means that you will have to learn your captain’s licenses again on ancient Tier 1 ships!
The Steam restart of WoWS can have its benefits
Sure, such a forced restart can be quite annoying, but for some players, it’s a good opportunity to experience the excitement of the launch again. After all, everyone has to start over, and one can indulge freely in the lower tiers. The gameplay is somewhat different there, as the ships have worse or no torpedoes, fire less far, endure less damage, and do not include aircraft carriers.
Other players hope for more unity in the community and have already called on experienced players in the forum to help newcomers on Steam. How well the Steam version of World of Warships will ultimately be received will be revealed on November 15 and in the following weeks.
You can find the Steam version of World of Warships here.
World of Warships is not the only Wargaming game that is being released in a new form; the unfortunate World of Warplanes has recently been overhauled as version 2.0.
