Rise of the Banshee Queen (Sylvanas Addon)
Many theories currently circulating revolve around Sylvanas Windrunner, the current ruler of the undead Forsaken. She is currently one of the few beings that are truly immortal – at least temporarily.
After the death of the Lich King, Sylvanas – during a suicide attempt – made a pact with the Val’kyr. The 9 Val’kyr create new undead for Sylvanas and have the power to resurrect them. Of the original 9, only 4 are currently alive.
Since the end of “Wrath of the Lich King,” Sylvanas has been expanding her own empire. She conquered parts of Andorhal from the Scourge, annexed Gilneas, and developed new plagues whose effects could wipe out all races. But what is all this for? Her former goal of killing the Lich King is already fulfilled, and yet she continues to craft perfect murder weapons and conquer more land. It is only a matter of time before Sylvanas finally reveals her grand plan – and that’s where the addon comes into play. An expansion in the style of “Rise of the Banshee Queen” could become incredibly exciting. The 4 remaining Val’kyr would be the final bosses of the first raids to make Sylvanas “mortal” again – somewhat like Voldemort and his Horcruxes.
What speaks against it: The Forsaken faction would be divided. While players would likely identify as “loyal to the Horde” and turn their backs on the Dark Lady, this doesn’t quite fit the behavior of a typical Forsaken. Large parts of Lordaeron would need to be recycled or entirely new areas would have to be created to serve as the new seat of power for the Banshee Queen.
