As in the past, many character names in World of Warcraft will be freed up. Those who have been inactive for several years could lose their favorite names and should take appropriate countermeasures.
There is still time until June 23 to log in old WoW heroes
Blizzard has decided to offer new players a greater variety of names again. For this reason, all names of characters that have not logged into the game since December 7, 2010 will be released. This does not necessarily mean that those who have not played since then will lose their names. However, everyone can now secure the old names and use them for their own character.
If you want to keep your old character names despite nearly 6 years of inactivity, you must log in with all affected characters before the release of Patch 6.2 (June 23). If you are unsure and still have an active WoW subscription, you should also log in with all characters to be safe.
