Bold 9 dungeons are returning in World of Warcraft and will soon offer solid rewards again – at least for a short time.
With Patch 9.1.5, Blizzard is trying to revive many old contents again. In the latest version of the upcoming patch found on the PTR, changes have been discovered indicating that a total of 9 dungeons will soon regain relevance – at least during the respective timewalking event.
What is timewalking? Timewalking is a special event that takes place in World of Warcraft every few weeks. Each time, a different expansion is in focus. During timewalking, old dungeons of the respective addon (like Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Mists of Pandaria) can be visited at max level and yield acceptable loot. Characters are scaled down a bit, so that the dungeons still present a solid challenge even at max level.
Which dungeons are coming back? In the latest version of Patch 9.1.5, the list of available timewalking dungeons has been drastically expanded. In addition to the already returning dungeons from Legion, there are 9 more dungeons spread over 5 expansions that you can soon dive into when the respective timewalking is active. The returning dungeons are:
- The Burning Crusade
- Underbog
- The Botanica
- The Blood Furnace
- Wrath of the Lich King
- Utgarde Keep
- Azjol-Nerub
- The Forge of Souls
- Cataclysm
- Blackrock Caverns
- Warlords of Draenor
- Grimrail Depot
- Mists of Pandaria
- Scholomance
What does this mean in the long run? There has been speculation for a while now that Blizzard aims to significantly expand the timewalking feature at least with the next expansion. A first clue is the implementation of “Mythic+” dungeons into timewalking, as is the case in Patch 9.1.5 for some Legion dungeons. Thus, the endgame will also be stirred up for players who usually only hang out in the hardest dungeons. More variety for everyone.
Timewalking in Legion also brings back the Mage Tower – it has a Druid skin that is so good that Blizzard practically forces you to play Druid.
