The pre-patch for World of Warcraft: Legion is here! The update prepares for the arrival of the Burning Legion and also brings various new features and changes to Blizzard’s record MMORPG. But what exactly is changing now with the pre-patch 7.0.3.?
In just a few weeks, the latest add-on for World of Warcraft, Legion , will be released. But as is common with Blizzard, the new patch will not simply be thrown onto the live servers, and it won’t just “Poof” and suddenly the Burning Legion is there. Instead, before the add-on launch, there comes a pre-patch that makes the necessary changes and initiates the invasion of demons into Azeroth. The patch 7.0 is now live!

According to the official patch notes for the Legion pre-patch, there are page-long changes in many areas of the game. Particularly cool are the extensive adjustments to the classes, the standardized values in PvP, and the changes to the transmogrification system. In the following paragraphs, we will explain the most exciting new features to you!
Fashion Show – The new Transmogrification System
This feature is my personal favorite, because now we can select all soulbound items as templates for transmogrification through the “Templates” tab. The best part: these templates are account-wide! Each of your heroes can use them. Additionally, we can assemble and save whole outfits. Even fixed outfits for our specializations are possible! There’s now also an option to hide our shoulder armor!
Class Changes in WoW Legion
Each of the 12 classes in World of Warcraft will receive changes and adjustments. For example, the “Survival” specialization of the Hunter will become a melee specialization. However, the Rogue is hit particularly hard, as its “Combat” specialization has been removed due to a lack of clear focus. Instead, there is a new direction called “Outlaw,” which creates a kind of pirate. So, an agile fighter who fights with pistol and saber. More information and details about the class changes can be found in the preparation article for Legion.
Naked to the Battle – The new PvP Gear System
To make PvP in World of Warcraft fairer again, there is now an effect called “Codex of War,” which removes all bonuses from equipment items. Instead, our stats in PvP are now determined by the average item level and our selected specialization. This is intended to better balance PvP so that newcomers still have a chance. The new honor system will come later, which is why there is currently no way to gain new honor.
Nothing for Homebodies!
Those who have been comfortably hanging out in their garrison and farming gold can now forget that for the time being, as patch 7.0 removes numerous gold income sources from the garrison. Additionally, there are no longer items from salvage, although the salvage obtained previously will still function. However, if you want to make good money, you have to go out again.
It is beautiful!
World of Warcraft has already been beautified with the last add-on Warlords of Draenor. But now everything gets even more magnificent, as the graphics engine of WoW is being revised again in Legion. Now the rendering distance is significantly greater, and there are now three graphics levels beyond “Ultra”! Advanced shading techniques also ensure better shadows and optimized color representation. This makes the over 11-year-old game still look very beautiful.
More about the changes that are coming with the upcoming expansion can be found on our overview page for WoW Legion.
That’s it for the highlights of the pre-patch. Further innovations, such as the new honor system, will be added with subsequent patches. The complete patch notes are also available on the official World of Warcraft page.
