With the upcoming addon for World of Warcraft “Legion“, Dalaran returns as the capital. But how does this fit together historically?
No Love for Jaina
With “Legion”, Dalaran will once again become the capital and thus the hub of events for World of Warcraft. However, those who played “Mists of Pandaria” a bit more attentively might start to wonder. Officially, the Horde was banned from Dalaran when the Blood Elves wanted to use their connections to the city’s mages to steal an artifact from the Alliance. Horde players surely remember how they were thrown out of the city by Jaina Proudmoore and all Blood Elves were locked away in a large cleansing operation. The icy lady took a hard stand back then.
In “Legion”, however, Dalaran is once again the capital of both factions. The reason for this is that Jaina is stepping down from her role as leader of the Kirin Tor to make way for Khadgar. Whether this happens voluntarily, is forced by Khadgar and the Council of Six, or if other circumstances (death, madness, chocolate cravings) are responsible is yet to be known.
Even though the “old” Dalaran will remain in Northrend for gameplay reasons, the revised version will naturally have some changes to reflect the transformations of recent years. Among other things, the Violet Hold is also located in Dalaran, which represents one of the dungeons of the addon – of course with new enemies.
