The Mag’har Orcs are the new allied race of the Horde in World of Warcraft. The first players have already unlocked the new race in Battle for Azeroth – here’s how.
The requirements: To unlock the Mag’har Orcs, you must speak to Eitrigg in Orgrimmar. You will need the following:
- a Horde character at level 120
- a completed Horde war campaign (with the achievement “Ready for War”)
- honored reputation with the Oathbound
After you have accepted the quest from Eitrigg, you only need to play a short scenario.
Mag’har Orcs are now playable – The scenario
To start the recruitment, you must speak to Eitrigg in the embassy of Orgrimmar. He explains to Sylvanas and you that he has found a way to return to Draenor. He has found a shard of the artifact that Garrosh used to travel to Draenor.
Part 1 – Restoring the shard: Sylvanas refers you to the new allies, the Nightborne, who are specialists in teleportation. You speak to Oculeth, who tells you that this is time magic and directs you to the bronze dragonflight.
You travel to the Caverns of Time and speak to Anachronos there. He explains to you that to restore, you need to relive several points in the past of the shard. You replay the opening of the Dark Portal in Deaenor, the trial of Garrosh’s war crimes, and the Siege of Orgrimmar.

Part 2 – To Draenor: After the shard is now charged, you return to Oculeth. He sends you along with the shard to Draenor, where you are immediately captured by the Mag’har and brought to Overseer Geya’rah.
She tests if Eitrigg is a true Orc by asking him to tell the story of three clans. After Eitrigg passes the test, Grommash Hellscream appears, who advocates for you and sends you on a mission with Geya’rah.
You are to find out why the ogre Kor’gall is suddenly opposing the Mag’har and prove that you are not spies of the Draenei. Apparently, there is a conflict on Draenor. You defeat Kor’gall and are then informed that the “Lightbound” are attacking the Mag’har.
Part 3 – Tyranny of the Light: The Lightbound are Draenei who fanatically believe in the Light and also impose this religion on the Orcs. Some even follow them willingly, but the Mag’har resist.
You must now defend several Mag’har outposts against the attacking Draenei and eliminate one of their Exarchs. After Exarch Orelis is finished, you return to Grommash, only to be attacked by the Draenei again.
This time, however, Yrel herself is present. She speaks with Grommash and gives him a last chance to join her. Grommash refuses, and the attack begins. He stands alone against Yrel, so that you can escape.

Part 4 – The embassy of Orgrimmar: Through the sacrifice of Grommash Hellscream, you can escape with Geya’rah and other Mag’har and return to the embassy of Orgrimmar.
Here the Mag’har swear their loyalty to the Horde, and you gain access to the new allied race and their mount, the Mag’har dire wolf.

Are the Dark Iron Dwarves also playable?
Yes, players have already unlocked the Dark Iron Dwarves as well. Thanks to the reputation bonus of the humans, the Alliance was able to unlock their allied race a bit earlier. Check out the scenario and how to unlock the Dark Iron Dwarves.
