The fantasy MMO World of Warcraft remains the most successful subscription MMO in the world and aims to keep it that way. The CEO of Blizzard has rejected a switch to a free-to-play model.
As PCGamesN reports, Mike Morhaime, the CEO of Blizzard, dismissed the free-to-play model: “I don’t see any dramatic changes to our business model.” Morhaine said this to investors during yesterday’s presentation of Activision’s financial report.
With the launch of the expansion “Warlords of Draenor” in a few days, an increase in player numbers and activity is expected – just like always. This time, care has been taken to ensure that players can easily return to the game and dive into the action.
According to Morhaine, they are also confident that they can keep players engaged even after Warlords of Draenor. Precautions have been taken, such as Garrisons or improved player models. These have already shown positive effects. With the Garrisons and the improved visuals, they want to give players the feeling of being part of World of Warcraft by leaving them a piece of the world.
