World of Tanks bans owners of “cheated” T-22 tanks by script, says: “Trust us”

Wargaming is currently facing some criticism from the community of the online game World of Tanks as the company seems to be ineffective in dealing with so-called “Rigging.”

With the update 0.9.12, Wargaming introduced the new tank T-22. This can be obtained by mastering a series of particularly difficult missions. Naturally, many want to have this tank, as the online game also appeals to the collecting aspect and furthermore, the tanks allow for new tactics and strategies.

Wargaming against Cheaters

However, the missions through which one can obtain the T-22 are very difficult. So difficult that some gamers resort to so-called “Rigging.” In this, teams coordinate with the opposing team, making it easier to complete the missions. “Rigging” is reportedly forbidden by Wargaming, which is why the company takes action against those who resort to this method.

However, many WoT fans express disappointment over how Wargaming is dealing with the situation. Because a script is used that automatically identifies players who have accepted the T-22 as a reward. However, the script allegedly cannot differentiate between someone who has lawfully or unlawfully acquired the tank.

Is Wargaming acting fairly?

Additionally, those who engage in “Rigging” but do not receive or accept the tank are not punished. This has led to strong criticism. However, Wargaming explains that the script has been intensively tested and that unjustified “bans” of players can actually be ruled out.
