The tank MMO World of Tanks has entered into a partnership with the wrestling organization WWE. Therefore, there are now a series of tanks on PS4 and Xbox One as part of the main event “SummerSlam” that are inspired by famous wrestlers like the Undertaker or Becky Lynch. Additionally, with Update 5.0, crossplay among consoles has been enabled.
What is the deal with the wrestling promo? As part of a collaboration with WWE, you can now unlock special vehicles on the PS4 or Xbox One consoles, inspired by the following famous wrestlers:
- Undertaker
- Becky Lynch
- André the Giant
- Sgt. Slaughter
- “Stone Cold” Steve Austin
The tanks each have a unique appearance, and you can even unlock the respective wrestlers as crew members. Additionally, there’s the possibility to get special intro animations in wrestling style for the garage view. Then the tank rolls into the scene in an especially epic way.
Wargaming has previously hosted quirky promos in the game, including a punk rock concert!
How do you get the WWE tanks? You will receive the “Stone Cold” tank for free if you reach level 100 in the current Battle Pass of the SummerSlam event. A suitable crew is available from level 30. The event runs until September 21, 2020.
You can obtain the other tanks by purchasing a special season pass. Then you can gradually unlock the tanks along with their crews in battle. These passes start at around 8 euros, but those who pay more can buy premium passes that contain even more goodies.
I want all of this on PC too! We’re sorry, but the event and the wrestling tanks are only available for the PS4 and Xbox One version of World of Tanks.
Without wrestling, but still an interesting game for on-the-go – World of Tanks Blitz:

What else is coming in console Update 5.0: In addition to SummerSlam, there are two noteworthy innovations with Update 5.0:
- There is finally crossplay between the PS4 and Xbox One. This should significantly expand the player pool of the consoles.
- The Commander mode, where you engage in PvE battles in the style of a strategy game, is back.
Furthermore, you can no longer play World of Tanks on the old Xbox 360. Anyone who tries to do so will see a farewell message.
World of Tanks is now 10 years old, yet even in 2020 it is still a game that excites tank fans. Find out why and what makes Wargaming’s great tank MMO worth it in our extensive MeinMMO special on the topic of “Is World of Tanks still worth it in 2020“. Have fun!
