In World of Tanks, players are currently furious. The reason: The controversial Patch 9.19, which brought some unpleasant changes to the game with the ranked battles. However, Wargaming sticks to the concept and merely asks for feedback, although hardly any player likes the update.
With Update 9.19, ranked battles finally made their way into World of Tanks. So far, so good, but unfortunately, players could earn extremely good equipment that is better than anything players can normally obtain in WoT in the ranked battles.
The downside is that only the best players have a chance at the new gear, while all others are left out.
World of Tanks Patch 9.19 – The grind that nobody wants
Because the new equipment makes good players even better, while mediocre gamers have even fewer chances, the new game mode isn’t well received. Because only in ranked battles can you win the war bonds needed to purchase the new equipment.
The problem is: To earn many bonds in ranked battles, you have to fight your way back into the top players on the leaderboard every week.
And since ranked battles only take place every day from 8 PM to 12 AM (on weekends from 6 PM to 10 PM), not all interested players can participate. As a result, many players are completely excluded and have no chance to earn the better equipment.
World of Tanks – YouTubers hate Patch 9.19
Patch 9.19 is viewed negatively by a large part of the local community.
Especially angry is the well-known YouTuber Mootality, the biggest WoT streamer in Germany. He is so furious about the unfairness of the new system that he is boycotting ranked battles altogether and also advises his viewers to do the same.
YouTubers SirNossi and EiKarrRamba see it less radically. They actually like the concept of ranked battles, but the unfair advantages that can be earned with absurd grind are not acceptable to them.
All three YouTubers therefore advise: “Write to Wargaming and tell them what you think and force them to revert the patch!” In the official forum of Wargaming, there is a large thread where many players are already advocating for the end of the update under the hashtag #STOP919.
Is Patch 9.19 only staying because of the Russians?
Wargaming also wants player feedback. In an official statement, the company announced that it is still testing the system of improved equipment and bonds. It is still in the beta stage. They plan to distribute the bond currency in other game modes besides ranked battles.
However, according to the community, this is still insufficient. The majority of players here do not want the feature of improved equipment at all! But allegedly, there is a very vocal majority in Russia who indeed wants superior equipment in order to crush their victims even more ruthlessly into the dust.
And that many players simply don’t believe Wargaming neglects its important Russian fans. After all, the Russian market is fiercely competitive, and many players could switch to Gaijin’s competing product War Thunder if they do not get what they want from Wargaming.
Trust is shaken
Alternatively, Wargaming could give Russians on the RU servers their own version of the game where the improved accessories are available.
The EU servers would then – according to the wishes of the majority of players – continue to play as usual and would receive alternative camouflage or smaller bonuses from ranked battles instead of game-changing equipment. That way, everyone would actually be happy. Only, many players no longer believe that it will come to that.
What do you think about the fuss over Patch 9.19 and the improved equipment? Do you see the few percent improvement as not so bad, or are you completely against it? And do you believe that Wargaming will change something? Let us know in the comments!
