The life simulation InZoi is getting a free update on Steam in August. A new city will be introduced that transforms the game into Stardew Valley. This is shown in a new letter from the Game Director Hungjun “Kjun” Kim.
What kind of update is InZoi getting? At the end of August, a free update is slated to arrive in the life simulation of InZoi, as stated in an update from the Game Director via Steam. This is to provide “recreation” fitting for the summer and introduce the third city called “Cahaya” to the game. Previously, the new city was announced under the name “Kucingku”.
Additionally, it is supposed to carry several innovations and adjustments, including a completely different focus for the city compared to the existing locations.
An independent life with farming and fishing?
What is known about the update? The focus of the new city (and thus the update as well) is to run under the motto “recreation”. The new name of the city means “light” and is supposed to offer exotic, vibrant islands that can also be explored by boat trip.
The update is supposed to create a recreation resort and provide swimming pools, playable ghosts, freelancer jobs, as well as improvements in skills, education, and text messages. A new building mode assistant with Krafton AI is also planned to be introduced. Furthermore, a simplification and improvement of city editing is in the works.
Another focus and a previously unique feature of the update is agriculture, as Kjun explains in the letter:
However, there is one thing that we couldn’t implement in this update. Many of you have wished for improvements to the job system, but since Cahaya is designed as a vacation spot, jobs or schools did not fit into the concept. Therefore, we deliberately decided not to integrate them in this city. Instead, you can lead a self-sufficient life with activities like farming or fishing. Improvements to the job system will come with the next city update.
With the update, you will likely be able to live completely independently without additional jobs and have a daily life like in the popular game Stardew Valley. However, Kjun does not yet share what this will look like.
InZoi will also be present at gamescom at the end of August, making a release of the update likely around this time. Cahaya is expected to be officially presented as a “free DLC” there.
InZoi is currently in early access and is continuously adjusted and improved. However, many players also notice things that are usually found more in an MMORPG than in a life simulation. And there is a good reason for that, as it’s intentional: If inZOI seems like an MMORPG to you, that is no coincidence
