The Hack and Slay Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem finally gets new content. Some fans see this update as a last chance for the game.
What is this update about? After completion of the major overhaul of the game, “Chronicle 1: Bloodtrail” is set to introduce new content to the action RPG Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem and make several gameplay improvements. However, the developers do not want to talk about the exact changes and innovations just yet. That is supposed to happen in the near future.
An important update with a downside
Why is this update so important? The fans of Wolcen have been waiting since the release of the game in February 2020 to finally experience new adventures. This is a long time without content supplies, which together with bugs has cost a lot of players the game. Thus, the Hack and Slay urgently needs this update, particularly in terms of new content, to satisfy the players.
There are already voices from the community that say this content update could be the last chance for the action RPG.

Nevertheless, there are also players who are looking forward to the update:

What downside does the update bring? The developers explain that “Chronicle 1: Bloodtrail” resets the game economy. This means that anyone who wants to experience the new content and gameplay improvements must start over with a new character. Essentially, this is a wipe – and that after the official release.
This has already led to some criticism:
- kolma84 states on Steam: “This update marks the start of a new Wolcen journey = now we are finally releasing version 1.0 of the game.”
Do you really have to start over? The developers know that many are attached to their characters and therefore introduce a legacy mode. This allows you to continue playing with your existing character on a separate legacy server. However, this also means that you cannot utilize the new content and gameplay improvements and that trading with players who play the new version is not possible.
When is the update coming? The team has not yet announced a release date. It is only said that it will be “soon”. Soon there should also be more information about the new content and the changes to the gameplay.
What is the current state of Wolcen? The reviews on Steam have improved to 70% and Mostly Positive over the past 30 days. However, the overall ratings still stand at 55% and Mixed.
Players are simply waiting for new content and there are still a few bugs that mar the gaming experience. With the new update “Chronicle 1: Bloodtrail”, the developers can now create a turnaround and perhaps finally make Wolcen the Diablo alternative that some have wished for.
