Update 9:58 PM: Now that the game is live, the price on Steam is 34.99 €. It has increased, but is still below the originally set price.
Is there Wolcen in German as well? Wolcen also offers the option of German in the interface and subtitles. However, the audio will only be available in English.
Wolcen received great reviews before Steam release
What are the reviews like? The Steam reviews for Wolcen still refer to the Early Access version:
- Here 79% are positive over the entire period – that’s “mostly positive”
- In the last 30 days, the game received 93% positive reviews, which is “very positive”
Players who have written reviews say:
- Wolcen is perfect as a substitute for Diablo 3 and for the transition to Diablo 4
- Wolcen offers good replayability
- it has improved significantly over time
Many compare Wolcen with the Diablo series and praise the game for its beautiful graphics.
Euphoria damper from the release
Are there reasons to be skeptical? Initial tests from game magazines have been cautious: GameStar gave 84 out of 100 points but deducted 15, as Wolcen was still surprisingly buggy and had significant flaws. A 69 is a fairly mediocre rating for a highly anticipated game.
The poor condition of Wolcen in the test was said to be due to the wrong version being tested. A day-one patch is said to eliminate many bugs. A communication error between the developers and the German PR agency is claimed to be responsible for the mess.
Whether the update at launch truly addresses all criticisms and issues will only be known after the launch of Wolcen.
