Who is Edric? Act 1 of the popular hack ‘n slay Wolcen ends with a boss fight. Edric is the justiciar of the republic and is quite nasty. You should prepare very well for this fight.
This is no walk in the park
What is the problem? Wolcen basically has a rather pleasant difficulty level in normal mode. You can defeat numerous enemies without too many issues and have little trouble even with the mini-bosses if you pay attention to their attacks and are quick. In the first 3 to 4 hours, you should glide through the game relatively effortlessly if you are familiar with games of this type.
However, when you encounter Edric, the situation changes. The boss will pull you out of your dreams, as he shows you that you are not the overpowered hero. The difficulty suddenly increases significantly in this fight.
Edric has three phases, each harder than the previous one. Prepare for a really tough battle. We explain in a guide how to defeat this boss.
What do players say about this boss fight? There is a lot of complaining, and Edric has to endure some insults. It is this sudden break in the game that causes frustration for some discovering Wolcen at release.
Before the fight, players glide smoothly through Wolcen; it is not particularly hard. Then Edric enters the scene and wipes the floor with some players. That is quite a surprisingly tough experience.

Edric is quite a character
Andreas says: Even in the early access phase of the Steam hit Wolcen, the encounter with Edric surprised me. While I could easily fight my way through to this boss, the fight against Edric was initially impossibly hard.
I had to come up with new tactics, grind, and even reskill my hero to have any chance at all. The problem is not so much that Edric is really tough. Rather, he simply comes as a surprise. You simply don’t expect it.
And also, that you have no problems at all with your build throughout the entire act, but with Edric you really have to pay attention to which skills you particularly need is quite a change.
I had the quiet hope that Edric would not be quite as hard with the official release of Wolcen. But that is not the case. So, watch out when you encounter the justiciar of the republic.
