In the ARPG Wolcen, you can not only play classic roles such as a warrior, mage, or ranger, but also create hybrid classes. The magic shooter from YouTuber Mattjestic not only takes a lot of damage but also deals a significant amount of damage.
Magical Wolcen Pistol Build for Mid to Endgame
These are your main attributes
- Wildness: Increases the critical hit chance for spells and attacks
- Toughness: Increases your health points and fort shield
The build mainly builds on Wildness to increase your critical hit chance. Thanks to the high Toughness, the magic shooter becomes very tanky and can withstand quite a bit, especially in the endgame. Distribute about 6 points in Wildness and 4 in Toughness for each level you ascend. Since you are, like the frost ranger, quick enough in attack, you don’t need extra points in agility.
In general, the following holds: Wildness > Toughness > Wisdom > Agility
These are your main talents
- Aether Jump: Teleport ability that converts willpower into rage.
- Wailing of the Arrow: AOE attack at your mouse pointer position.
- “Death Gapper” Railgun: High damage in the effect area. When the shot is charged, the effect area decreases, but the damage increases.
- Mark of Impurity: Curses the target and increases the damage they take.
- Mark of the Gunslinger: Fires a series of shots that hit multiple enemies accurately.
This is your secondary talent
- Dead Spots: Summons a golem that deals damage and generates threat.
With the unlocking of the fifth slot, you can equip an additional ability. Here you can take additional damage spells or abilities, but your damage should already be high enough at this point. We choose the spell Dead Spots, a summoned golem. Thanks to its high health points and generated threat, you can rest assured in front of most groups of enemies. Especially against bosses, the golem is a useful companion.

Skills for the Mage-Shooter Build in Wolcen
With each level, you receive a talent point that you can invest in the talent tree. The skill tree in Wolcen is quite complex and allows you to experiment a lot.
Area Soldier (First Ring)
- “Representative” increases the overall critical hit chance by 60%.
Area Warmonger (Second Circle)
- “Maniacal Butcher” increases damage by 2% per 100 unused rage.
- “Staunch for the Crows” increases global life steal by 2%.
Area Ranger (Second Circle)
- “Come what may” allows projectiles to pierce every target within 6 m.
- “Endurance Hunter” increases damage by 25% against enemies with movement impairments.
Area Siege Breaker (Third Circle)
- “Banner of Warfare” grants you a fortress point every 1.5 seconds. +4% block chance per fortress point.
- “Recovery Anchor” grants a bonus depending on the type of chest armor.
Area Assassin (Second Circle)
- “Relentless Lethality” reduces damage by 30%, increases critical damage by 60%.
Area Praetorian (Second Circle)
- “Selfless Courage” increases the overall resistance value for you and your friends by 25% after a block.
- “Holy Oath” applies 2 debuff stacks when blocking an attack to targets within a 7 m radius.
- “Royal Aegis” allows you to block with any weapon. Increases block chance by 6%.
Area Weaver of Time (Third Circle)
- “What time cannot heal” causes 100% hit damage after a short delay to enemies affected by Stasis.
- “Terrible Crossing”: Your health points and fort shields are reduced by 15%. Damage taken comes in delayed.
Area Exorcist (Third Circle)
- “Branded Blaster”: Every 2.5s you receive a Dogma point. Maximum 5. Each point absorbs damage.
Area Warlock (Second Circle)
- “Annihilation Duty” increases willpower and rage by 200.
Area Child of Wrath (Third Circle)
- “Wrathful Appetite” generates your rage instead of willpower.
What to pay attention to in equipment
The equipment itself is not that special and can be completely purchased from the merchant. The right gemstones and some stats are especially important. As a weapon, you use a pistol and a catalyst.

The build plays quite fast and relies on you debuffing enemies constantly with the Mark of Impurity and building Stasis stacks through the “Death Gapper” Railgun. Then you can quickly take down large groups with Wailing of the Arrow and freeze champions and bosses with the Mark of the Gunslinger. Use the Aether Jump when your rage is depleted. Blink back and forth until your rage is full.
